My name is Ben...and I like to shoot stuff.

Practical Shooting is still my life. I travel, train, compete, teach, and improve both my own skills and my training methods. Things change fast in the competitive shooting scene and I like to stay on top of the changes in order to shoot my best and teach my students to be the best.

In 2005 I discovered the sport of Practical Shooting. This sport instantly became an addiction for me. I started training like it was my full time job and I got proficient quickly. I used dry-fire as my primary source of training and was able to make USPSA GM almost right away after starting competition.

By 2007 I started attending USPSA Nationals in an effort to learn how to shoot better and improve my skills. This is the most challenging event in USPSA to win and it took me years more of training to do so.

I began teaching other people to shoot in 2008. This started as a side gig at first but eventually it became my only occupation. In a few short years I was a traveling shooter/instructor and had published many of my ideas into a book series.

UPCOMING CLASSES

Practical Shooting Fundamentals

Session 1

March 16 &

March 17

2020

This is the flagship class. We work on fundamental USPSA skills and apply them in a stage environment. We shoot a mix of drills and stages.

We also work on hitting small targets, moving around through stages, and breaking down stages. Don’t let the “Fundamentals” in the title for this class mislead you. This isn’t a class for new shooters. This is geared towards people that already shoot USPSA, understand scoring and safety rules, and want to improve.

Students should leave class with an idea about how to dry practice more efficiently and how to improve the foundation skills for USPSA.

Practical Shooting

Skills & Drills

Session 1

March 21 &

March 22

2020

This is a "how to train" class.

Whatever level you are at, at the end of the class you should have a good idea of how to get to the next level. We work through a variety of drills from "Skills and Drills" and shoot stages.

This class features difficult scenario style drills and very little fundamental practice. The emphasis in this class is on learning how to do live fire practice sessions.

This is a class that is best done with a smaller group. I also strongly recommend that you have done a Fundamentals class before moving on to this one.

TESTIMONIALS

Rob377

“The class was, in a word, freakin' awesome.
In more words, I'd say I probably learned more about getting better at USPSA (and shooting generally) in 2 days than I have in the last year of shooting matches.”

MJOY64

“All in all... worth every damn cent of the cost. While I learned a lot it was more of a reinforcement of information already there. He's put it down in black and white in his books. Buy the books, lots of his material is in there. If you have a chance to take a class from Ben... do it. It will reinforce the material in the books in a powerful way. I am also reminded what I already knew which is... there isn't any magic secret knowledge that will make you better overnight. It's hard work. Not only do you have to have the drive to do the work... you have to work on the right things.”

WIILSHOOT

"Ben is an excellent teacher, prodding his students to their limits in order to guide them through to greater heights. While the course material is very specific and oriented to advanced competition shooters, it really does help those specific folks through the hurdles that they may be encountering."
